General Policy It is the policy of the company to take all reasonable steps to crate and provide an environment that is healthy and safe for all employees as is reasonably practicable all those who may be affected by its works and activities whether other construction operatives or members of the general public. In the establishment and maintenance of such an environment full recognition will be given to the need to involve employees in developing and promoting safety procedures and practices. Management recognises its duties under the Health & Safety at work Act 1974 and the construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994and will remain safe premises, plant and systems of work, and to provide adequate training and information to ensure the safety of operatives, others who may be working, or will work in future on the premises, and the public at large.
Responsibility Overall responsibility for health & safety within the organisation is held by Mr. Philip Keen.
- The following aims are set out to fulfil the policy:
- To provide safe systems of work for all operatives.
- To provide adequate personal protective equipment in accordance with the 1992 act.
- To provide training and instruction to all operative.
- To ensure provision and maintenance of adequate first aiders and Facilities
- To ensure adequate instructions on all premises to ensure safe Working methods and fire safety.
- To ensure risk assessments are carried out for all work activities where appropriate.
- To ensure all health and safety procedures are reviewed, monitored and amended at appropriate intervals.
The health & safety at work Act 1974 imposes responsibilities on all employees at work. These are:
To take reasonable care for they're own health & safety and those who may be affected by there actions.
To take adequate regard to health & safety implications of their instructions to others.
All those supervising others must take the initiative in training and ensure all those under their supervision carry out works in a manner unlikely to present a health and safety risk to themselves or others. Supervisors must have due regard to health & safety in issue of their instructions and must themselves set an example.
All work activities involving three or more operatives shall have a nominated supervisor, working or otherwise who will be responsible for implementation of the policy.
